*****WARNING****** ALERT****** folks i seldom ever comment on physical safety but seeing this picture as cute as it is i get chills all over and am horrified at the thought of how extremely dangerous that rope is. if you do not believe me please research it but here are the general facts. those rope and fibre toys are more than dangerous; as the pups chew and pull on then strings come off and the pup swallows it these strings get all twisted up in the pups intestine and can cut the insides or get tangled in the curls of the intestines cause then to strangle the intestinal tract or even worse cut them into; if this happens their is very little that can be done to save your pup. below are a few articles regarding this and other toy safety issues. just remember toy for dogs are essential but there are safe and unsafe ones on the market. unfortunately the market for pet toys is not governed very closely as it is with childrens toys. two such very bad and dangerous toys are the string toy or rope toys and the ever so loved tennis ball. the fibres are so very dangerous. instead get a tuff ball or super ball without the velveteen covering or a pull toy that is made of safe soft plastic or polyrubber tug toy. or a good strong rawhide chew toy in any case inspect your dogs toys each day before they play if they are damaged torn or beginning to show age and wear take it away get rid of it and give them a new one. to help make the transition easier rub the old toy on the new one just before giving it to them or if you dog has a favorite moist food dab a tiny bit on the toy to get them interested. after all these are or fur babies we are talking about. safety must take a priority. the toys do not need to be expensive i get the dollar ones at wally world and replace them often and good pet store always have a wonderful supply of safe toys. remember one more thing do not believe the packaging research it ask the pet store owner and examine the toys your self closely then make an educated selection. care2/c2c/share/detail/118495/ thebark/content/choosing-safe-dog-toys komonews/news/archive/4027391.html
