WARNING! CONTROVERSY ;) Network marketing vs the church Ive had several people that I know personally who have ragged on network marketing, but the very same reasons they dislike it are all elements that they practice every day at church. Please understand one thing; Im in no way bashing church or religion or other peoples opinions, but a funny correlation suddenly became clear in my mind recently. these will sting if you read them in the wrong light. youve been warned 3 times so proceed at your own risk of unintended offense. 1. the person at the top makes all the money - thats the case anywhere and not just with church, but needed to be said. 2. i dont like making money off of other people - how does your pastor get paid? 3. I dont want to do home meetings -- most people attend a small group or house church. 4. I dont like recruiting/selling/convincing people and people dont like to be recruited. - well, technically if youre going on a missions trip or doing any sort of evangelical work, you are doing just that. 5. I dont want to talk to friends or family, because it annoys people - dont you tell your non-christian friends and family about your religion all the time in hopes that one day the convert? 6. Money isnt everything - but your churchs lights wouldnt turn on without it, right? 7. Dont mix business with church - but, you can complain about and pray about being broke all the time and asking God for opportunities, etc. but you just dont want to hear about them ;) sorry, had to throw that one in there, because thats the one that baffles me the most. 8. A church leadership team is almost identical to a network marketing leadership team, and their duties are pretty much the same too: reach out to people, help them personally, help them find purpose, have several leaders that over see smaller groups of people, hold them accountable, help them in a time of need (financially or otherwise), ask if you can meet with their friend who is interested in coming to your church, teach people how to spread the word, hold out-reaches to gather people together, etc etc etc. 9. We arent growing just for our own financial gain like you are -- we arent doing it just for the money either, but if your congregation grows, the donations increase, and thus, the leadership income grows, the church gets what it needs, you can feed more hungry, help more of the needy and you can recruit more people, and grow exponentially through word of mouth.
