*WARNING: I am about to geek-out very dramatically. Proceed with caution..* So.... its finally over. I just watched the series finale of Legend of Korra. It has been a ride. Ive raged, Ive cheered, Ive done some tear-bending. If youre wondering why Im being so overwrought with this, its because the Avatar franchise is something that I have literally grown up with. The original Avatar series was probably the first epic story that I was ever exposed to. It was so different for being a cartoon on Nickelodeon, and it really inspired me in many ways. This franchise is why I am who I am today. So when a sequel series was announced in 2012, I was immediately hyped. While Legend of Korra wasnt as great as the original series, it did a great job at expanding this fictional universe. It was more mature, dark, action-heavy, and it was still as well-written. It has dealt with issues such as: sociopolitical struggles, politics, spirituality, war, oppression, and even PTSD. You just dont see this stuff in a regular cartoon. Sadly, Nickelodeon has screwed the show over many times, and so it hasnt really gotten the recognition it deserves. And as of right now, this is it for the Avatar franchise. Im glad that I got to experience both shows because they truly left an impact on me, and Ive made a lot of friends out of it. This franchise is what Harry Potter was to many people. And that is a high compliment. If you havent seen either show, I really recommend it. Animation is truly an unrecognized art form, and both these series prove it. As for the ending, it was magnificent. And the very final scene ends on a quiet and open-ended note that leaves room for more stories in the future. Hopefully, one day there will be. I hope I can one day give my appreciation to the creators, writers, and artists who worked on these shows because their output was truly innovative and inspiring to many. I know Im being over-dramatic, so I apologize. Geek-out, over. :D #LegendofKorra #Book4Finale
