**WARNING: LONG EMOTIONAL POST** As a person who has tried to kill themselves twice, dont. Like so many of our worlds knee jerk solutions, suicide is a quick fix that leaves an everlasting problem for all who knew you long after. So much of me regrets the attempts I made as they affected people I knew. It wasnt until after I realized there are people willing to help push you back on track. Bouts of depression cascade over me every so often that leave me soured towards the world around me, feeling helpless towards existence. It took a long time to realize to open up to others around; my wife being my saving grace, but its not the opening up to others that is the key to dealing with this. Its the realization that you need help and proceeding to take the step(s) to pull ones self out of the depths of darkness our depression and sometimes mental instability can drag us to. The fact that you can take the step to open up to anyone about your darkness is a step out of the shadows our minds trick us into believing are forever cast. These demons never truly die nor fade away; Robin Williams is unfortunate, scary proof of such, but he is a tragic lesson in letting the devils we carry consume us whole. Facing our demons will be forever scary, but with the willingness to stop running with the help of others, we can start to see the zipper on the monsters weve run from for too much of our lives. So please, dont opt for suicide, talk to someone, even if its me. Suicide is not a solution, unless youve touched a bunch of kids, murdered people or other heinous crimes; then please, kill yourself, youre not helping anybody.
