WARNING TO THE GOVERNMENT OF UGANDA AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE I - TopicsExpress

WARNING TO THE GOVERNMENT OF UGANDA AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE I am a Ugandan by descent not by any other means and therefore I call myself a true Ugandan like many other citizens of Uganda. I also know very well that I have a right to associate and even make organizations whether political, social or economic. In the last weeks people with like minds came to understand that there was something going wrong and as a result formed and started a pressure group the National association of the Unemployed (NAU) and this is our right. When we called the first press conference the government called us disgruntled instead of answering the question of unemployment which is at over 80%. As a young organization with clear objectives and demands that can solve the unemployment problem we also need membership. So by early this month we went into the field to register the majority Ugandans again a caress and insensitive government came out using the police by paper spraying me and other colleagues who were registering. We were arrested for more than 24 hours without making statements and we were not allowed to see our visitors we later made statements and we were released after 70 hours which contravenes the constitution that requires only 48 hours. While others were taken to police for almost equal hours and then taken to court on tramped up charges of inciting violence and illegal assembly. After our release the government using the RCC Kampala Aisha Kabanda called a press conference and called us rebels which we rebutted. Yesterday they again got the registrars that were registering the unemployed Ugandans and now they are being detained at Old Kampala police station as if that’s not enough they have denied them some clothing with one of the activist having spent 24 hours without a shirt. All this is abuse of power by those who claim to have it. National Association of the Unemployed is merely civil group and not a group registering rebels because this government knows how best rebels are recruited. WARNING I highly warn the Uganda police and the government to stop inciting violence in the unemployed youth but rather solve the problem at hand and I also continue to unveil to them there is no way a government can settle with the unemployment rate at 83%. So if they are scared about power of unemployment, just solve it and if not it will swallow the government. Meanwhile we’re are determined to continue registering the unemployed Ugandans whenever they are because we have a right to association and we shall not stop this failure of the government to give its citizens jobs. And I also warn that if the government places us to the wall we might move in politically because the group members who have registered are capable qualified and they can steer my mother land forward. In brief am saying that no matter what we are unstoppable
