*WARNING-lots of positive thinking in the following status* Today I had a LOT to do before work and as I ran out the door, it became apparent that it was going to be a Murphy Day. I saw that I had a totally flat tire. No worries, Mom has wanted me to take her car out since it hasnt been driven in quite some time. I realized I didnt have the key to Moms car and had to go up and get hers from her. Usually if I go up in the morning I will sit with her for a bit and chat.. but no time.. gotta go.. Annd, her car is dead as a doornail. Ok, I have a bicycle pump.. pumped up my tire and went off to the lab to get blood work and a mammo (oh yay! I know you are all jealous) because my follow up Drs appt is TOMORROW and I have neglected to get these things done. Of course even though they took me in right away, then by the time the mammo peeps decided whether or not they would be able to actually see me (no one was ahead of me for that at that time) then the blood people got distracted and I had to wait for them.. by the time blood was done, the mammo peeps had people in front of me... ok.. got that all doen.. Well, last Wednesday I had brought my car to the shop because the A/C hadnt been working and I was going to need to bring Mom to Boston and.. yeah thats not going to happen in a non A/C vehicle. They were able to get it taken care of that day and it worked fabulously Thursday.. ok Friday morning.. and not quite so much Friday evening... by the weekend, it was non existent... Today as I was leaving the lab..... it was smoking. So, I pulled over and probably spent more time trying to get my hood open than anything else, called work and told them I might be late. Long story short (too late), I was able to realize it was just the A/C and not the serpentine belt. So, I turned off the A/C and continued on my way. I had taken on the responsibility of mailing out a friends wedding invitations and went to the PO to do that (still had enough time to get this done and be close to on time for work) only to find that even though there were no cars in the PO parking lot, there was a gentleman in there who took quite some time at the window (things like questioning the weight, cost, etc.. and not being able to swipe his card in the proper direction) Its all good.. I already called work and told them I might be late so Im safe. I had the PO check to see if the postage on the invites would be ok and found out no.. we need another 21 cents per envelope.... ... ok.. but Im not going to be able to stamp them all right now. Headed to work only to realize that if you work in Plymouth center these days you cant get there from here. From ANYWHERE!! Detour, construction, detour, tourist, detour, construction. Anyway, I got to work about 10 minutes late. I had to work late because it was a crazy Monday, then when I got home I had to deal with trying to get Moms car going and still go to the pharmacy for scripts for both of us and go grocery shopping and cook dinner for us both. The only part of this day that actually frustrated me was the last detour I hit on the way to work. Otherwise, I am lucky to have a car that I own outright along with its tires that might go flat and its AC that doesnt work.. I am lucky to have the strength in my body that I was able to pump the tire up on my own. I am lucky to have medical coverage so I could get poked with a needle and my boobs smished so I can make sure I am healthy. It could have been raining while I tried to check out my cars issues or I could have been stranded somewhere dangerous. I am lucky to have friends who trust me with their wedding invitations. I am lucky to have a job that I can have to navigate traffic and detours to go to. And most of all I am lucky to have a Mom who needs me to run her errands and cook for her. Thats all.. I think this is the longest status I have ever written.
