WASTE COLLECTION – actual citizens speak !! There were 33+ letters to the council objecting to this increase and 5 people who spoke to the matter. TRUE FACT that will astound you… Our contract with Waste Management is for, wait for it…15 YEARS! You could be born and go to junior year of High School while that is in effect. Undeclared “monopoly”? Citizen 4 Corona’s first, “Yes, go get ‘em” award to Bernadine Ramsey (sp?) who spoke to this issue and knew more than anyone in the room. If you are not already a member of C4C – we need you Ms. Ramsey! You want to run for office? Oh and BTW, you didn’t take too much time. Who knows this woman...? There is also conversation as to how the city is REQUIRED to post all these notices, put it in the paper, and then if is 50% of the people + 1, don’t object – well, we don’t have “reasonable denial”. REALLY? 18th Century process...in the 21st. Listen to Ms. Ramsey, noting the abysmal turnout for an actual election, Then – ask yourself – a simple question. Do office holders wear tax increase repellent clothing? There is always a reason why their hands are tied. Maybe that’s so – in which case, the system of how these items are done needs repair. Also note, the Council was ready for these commenters – they had a WM representative ready to assist. That’s nice – how come they can’t have WM clean up Skyline just as easily?
