Hailing from Enugu State, Chinedu Flavour Okoli showed his interest in music from a young age, where he was awarded a scholarship in 1997 at Soundcity Communication because of his outstanding talent and love for music. In 2002 Flavour joined a musical band, where he played the drums and then later on moved onto the keyboard before forming his own band in 2004; playing at various hangout spots in Enugu State. Flavour’s songs are original, as most of his hits are expressed in his mother tongue, the Igbo language. His brand of music is a fusion of African Rhythm, high life and contemporary jazz, in one phrase “Afro hip life”. Having captivated audiences with his unique and eclectic sound, Flavour has set the pace in this genre, which is widely popular and enjoyed by a variety of music enthusiasts venturing beyond indigenes of the Igbo tribe. In 2008, Flavour released his 8-track-album Nabania, which saw the album selling over 10 million copies nationwide and brought him fame and fortune. His sophomore album Uplifted gained a huge buzz with the fans, radio, and television and even in the streets with his hit singles Nwa Baby, Oyi and Adama after its release in March 2010. The success of this album has heightened his popularity across Africa and the wider international sphere, seeing Flavour headline major national and international music events played across Nigeria and most parts of Africa; America; Asia; Europe; Australia; and Europe. Having been awarded with numerous accolades, honorariums and nominations all across the globe which includes; Channel O Africa Music Awards; NEMEA Awards and being nominated for one of Africa’s most prestigious music awards- KORA Awards. Most recently, Flavour dominated 2013’s NMVA awards, winning four awards. His third and most recent album Blessed was released in October 2012 under his own record label, 2nite Enter-10-ment and was marketed by Obaino music. Since then, Flavour has performed all over Africa, Europe, Asia and America on shows featuring some of the words most popular a-list musicians such as; Akon ; Ciara; Sean Kingston; Rick Ross and many more showing that Flavour has grown to be a major force in the music industry both locally and internationally.
