WATERS VS. GILMOUR (AND WRIGHT AND MASON) Just got my CD copy - TopicsExpress

WATERS VS. GILMOUR (AND WRIGHT AND MASON) Just got my CD copy of Pink Floyd, The Endless River. The excerpts I have heard sound fabulous. Roger Waters is overrated, though I give him his due for his contributions to earlier Floyd albums (The Wall and earlier). The Final Cut is one of the worst albums ever put out by a major, top tier band: up there with CCRs Mardi Gras (1972). And thats because (Wikipedia): Waters wrote all the lyrics, as well as all the music on the album. Gilmour did not have any material ready for the album and asked Waters to delay the recording until he could write some songs, but Waters refused. Wright was absent and Masons musical contributions were minimal. You cant remove David Gilmour (not to mention, Wright and Mason) completely from a Pink Floyd album. It doesnt work. The result is a farce of an album: The Final Cut (dominated by Waters ridiculous nuthouse vocals). But you can take out Waters and still put out three good albums. I rest my case . . .
