WAY-BACK UPDATE: Some of you were on the page back in 2012, when Buddy was on the page. His owner lost him and she mistakenly posted him in the wanted section of Craigslist. I struck up a convo with her and told her the correct sections to post in. I dont even know why I was in the wanted section. I never look there. It had to have been fate. The next day, I was looking at the dogs at animal control and there he was in a kennel. I contacted her but her family was on hard times and unfortunately, could not afford to get him out. She was just heartbroken. Many kind page members instantly pitched in and raised the funds to get him out. Even friends from states away were donating for Buddy. It was amazing. This was when the page was just a year old and we only had a few hundred members. Mr. Kitsch and I picked Buddys owner up and away to MACC we went. The entire way there, I worried that he had already been euthanized and that wed meet bad news when we got there - though I didnt tell her that. She cried all the way there and cried some more when he busted down that hall towards her. There was a little donation money left over and Ill never forget the look on her face when I handed it to her and told her it was for things that Buddy needed. She kept telling me that she couldnt believe how many strangers were being kind to her, another complete stranger. On the way home, she used a few bucks of that money to buy Buddy a Happy Meal. :) She said that she didnt buy herself one but just loved watching him eat it. In the end, her family fell on even harder times and lost their home. Betty Collins kindly stepped in and offered to short-term foster him. Well, that short-term turned to looooong-term as the familys situation did not improve. Betty hooked Buddy up with Big Fluffy Dog Rescue and they found him a great new home up North. Betty sent me this update photo of him today in his new home with his adopted brother. He looks SO happy! I just wanted those of you who remember Buddy to get this update. Ive lost touch with Buddys owner but I know shed be happy to know that hes doing well and is loved. When she found him on the streets originally, she knew that she didnt have the money for a dog - but he followed her home from the store and would not leave her. This family literally had nothing - but she took a leap of faith and took him in. Although it didnt work out for him with her family, her kindness saved his life.
