WCHE NEWS - The West Chester Area School District Pupil Services Committee will review a demographic study of population patterns and trends during the board’s meeting tonight. Superintendent Dr. Jim Scanlon said the report is not a redistricting plan; however, it will help determine future enrollment based on birth rates, and housing developments among other factors. According to the study, the majority of district schools will be over capacity in 10 years despite slight decreases in birth rates and district-wide enrollment. Scanlon expects the board to approve redistricting parameters at its June meeting. The district hopes to implement a redistricting plan in fall of 2015. The demographic study can be accessed on the district’s website, wcasd.net by clicking the “redistricting” link. Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Spellman Administration Building.
