WDSU: Father Michael Jacques of St. Peter Claver dies after heart attack Archdiocese asks for prayers from parishioners NEW ORLEANS - Father Michael Jacques of St. Peter Claver Church has Father Michael Jacques, St. Peter Claver Church passed away, WDSU has learned Friday morning. In a statement to parishioners, the Archdiocese of New Orleans said Jacques was admitted to the hospital Thursday for an apparent heart attack and died after complications with surgery. The archdiocese asked that parishioners remember Jacques and his family in their prayers. Funeral services are pending. Jacques was a giant in the New Orleans Catholic community. He was instrumental in saving some of the churches after Hurricane Katrina.
