WE ALL SHOULD BE THANKFUL ON THIS THANKSGIVING DAY, FOR ALL THAT WE ARE BLESSED WITH HAVING, FOR MANY, HAVE FAR LESS, AND ASK FOR THINGS MONEY CANNOT BUY , AND ARE GRATEFUL FOR ANOTHER DAY OF SURVIVAL !! Homelessness, is a subject I know quite a bit about, from first hand experience : Im so happy to hear this story of a person I knew from Virginia, whos Thanksgiving wish was granted,,,by the dozens !! Being homeless is bad enough, being cast aside from society, and apart from family & friends, and feeling not only the emotional shock of being homeless, but of feeling helpless and unwanted as well. The very place this video is shot, is the very mission that saved my life,,,a number of years ago, I left Nashville, TN to take a job in Norfolk, VA...only to not be hired due to health reasons,,,and when the little amount of money I had ran out, I was forced to seek the help of a homeless shelter call Union Mission Ministries,,,They gave me a mat to sleep on the floor with, and 3 meals a day, usually cereal for breakfast, and soup for lunch & dinner,,,My health worsened dramatically, and they sent me to a medical clinic, which hospitalized me for nearly a week with pnuemonea, emphysema, congested heart failure, kidney stones, and a swollen liver,,,Upon release from the hospital, the mission took me in, paying for all my medications, transpoting me back & forth to doctor appts, and the hospital for test upon test,,,as I recovered slowly, I took a job with the mission as my way of giving back for all they did for me,,,it was basically volunteer work, in exchange for room & board, and 15 dollars a week,,,I did that for three years, as the mission transissioned from the old downtown Norfolk building, to their new location in Virginia Bch...They helped me to establish social security disability, and I saved enough to rent on my own,,,I was one of the lucky ones, even considering all my health issues,,,for I had seen many there who died from health problems, or street crimes, and old age, and they sadly died usually alone with only friends from the mission, and no family aside from that,,,It was a rocky couple years on my own,,,but I was Blessed again when I decided my health issues should guide me back up north to be closer to my family,,,My sister was an Angel in disguise, and her & my brother in-law came to Virginia, and drove me back to my home state here in New England where I am now able to be close to family & friends,,,I have my own safe & secure highrise apartment, and can spend my Holidays once again with the family & friends I love, and who love me,,,But I will never forget the loneliness that Neal feels on these Holidays,,,and I am Thankful that so many kind hearted people have opened their home to him, so that he may have a family around him for the Holidays,,,I know how much it means to him,,,and I wish him peace & happiness this holiday season, and pray his new job will allow him the escape of homelessness, and peace of mind in knowing there is always hope, and always help,,,Happy Thanksgiving Neal,,,May God Bless you, and all those at these missions & shelters who are alone this season,,,May they all find peace & direction for a new life !! Thanks all who have taken the time to read this extremely long post, and donate to your local shelters & missions either a few dollars, unwanted furniture & clothing, or just prayers & acts of random kindness for these people who have struggle with a tragedy that resulted in homelessness,,,It could happen to anyone of us at anytime,,,Be Thankful for All you have this Thanksgiving !! Peace & Love !!
