WE DID IT! Together, we have accomplished something amazing. After being bombarded with your calls and letters and visits, the House Judiciary Committee today tabled HB 921 -- the bill to dismantle PA’s background check system! That means they didn’t even present it to the Committee to discuss or debate today. As to HB 2011, the bill to give special legal standing to gun owners and organizations of gun owners to sue towns and cities, it was passed but we will continue our work to defeat it as it moves to the floor. And you know what our callers heard repeatedly yesterday -- for the first time, the contacts from folks on our side of the issue -- the side of gun violence prevention and safety -- were far outnumbering the calls from the other side. That passion gap we always hear about -- destroyed! But, of course, we can’t let up. Now that the gun lobby has seen what we can do -- derail key pieces of their agenda -- they’ll be even more fired up. So, let’s take a page from their book and stay focused and determined. Pennsylvania can be the place we want it to be, where commonsense gun policy is good politics. But we have to make it that place! Keep up the good work!
