“WE MET KEVIN BACON!”: We met Franklin County Representative Kevin Bacon:) He was very nice & personable. He said that he was in 6th grade before the ACTOR Kevin Bacon started making movies, pointing out that HE had the name FIRST! I asked him to tell about one of the laws he got passed & he said some broad subjects, then he finally said something specific, which is was going for. They passed a law for victims about if a perpetrator is going to be up for early release or is getting released early, the victims must be notified so they can have the option to fight it & be aware that they are out. … The “Issue of the day” which they had on an electronic sign, was, “Should Ohio link drivers licenses to school performance?” We were all given “vote cards” & encouraged to go to the voting area & vote. The majority voted yes it should. Josie, a girl in Kaitlyns class, asked me how I voted. I didnt vote because I wanted to keep my card as a souvenir. But I told her I wouldve voted No if I had voted. I believe that is a parents place, not the governments place. I believe in the principal, but for the government to do it would be infringing on our rights I think. Anyway, they had a fun area of facts for the kids to hang out in. There was a huge sign that said “Re-elect Johnson State Representative.” I took a picture of it & sent it to Davids nephew Jake as that is his last name & he enjoyed that. I told him he had my vote:) While kids were using the bathroom right before we left, I went to the gift shop. I got personalized Ohio key chains for some people including Kaitlyn. They were out of “Kaitlyn” but they had “Katie.” I got one that said, “David” for me. I also got one for Kaitlyns mom & one for Tyler at work:) After we got in the van, David was like, “Whats the key chain say? Tyler?” I pulled them out & showed him the Tyler one & we started laughing! Good guess! He knows me! I had also bought 3 “Does eye” for $2. They are caramel & chocolate & yummy:) David had half of one & I had 2 1/2 :) hehe
