WEALTH GAP BETWEEN WHITE AMERICANS and BLACK ONES WIDENED more than the GAP between RICH AMERICANS and MIDDLE CLASS ones (2000% difference). Data.... WHITE/BLACK: 1. according to new Census data released by the Pew Research Center and reported by the Associated Press, the median white household in the United States is worth $113,149. The median wealth for a Hispanic household is $6,325. For blacks, the figure is a meager $5,677. This is the widest gap since the Census began keeping track of such data in 1984. The ratio was 12:1 back then. IN 1995, the median white U.S. household was worth seven times as much as its typical black or Hispanic counterpart. Today, the white-to-black household wealth ratio has widened to a jaw-dropping 20:1. The white-to-Hispanic ratio is a slightly less shocking 18:1. (in other words an approximately 2000% difference between white wealth and black) 2. Rich/Middle Class and Rich/Poor: While the income gap between rich and poor has widened astronomically since 1967, the gap between the rich and the middle class has widened the most. In 1967, those in the lowest percentile of American earners made a median salary of $9,300. By 2010, that was up to $11,900, a 28 percent increase (measured in 2010 dollars). The richest Americans, those in the 90th percentile, went from making a median of $85,800 in 1967 to $138,900 – a 62 percent increase.
