WEATHER BULLETIN No. 2 Tropical Cyclone Alert: Tropical Depression “#MaringPH” Issued at 11:00AM 17 August 2013 (Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today). Tropical Depression “Maring” has slightly accelerated as it moves in a East Southeast direction. Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “MARING” was estimated based on all available data at 270 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (21.3°N, 124.7°E). Strength: Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. Movement: Forecast to move East Southeast at 11 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Depression “MARING” is expected to be at 510 km East of Itbayat, Batanes tomorrow morning and at 740 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes by Monday morning. By Tuesday morning, it is expected to be at 960 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. • Public Storm Warning Signal no.1 over Batanes group of Islands has been lifted. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 10 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression. • “MARING” is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Western section of Luzon. • The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
