WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA The - TopicsExpress

WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA The forecasts for the next week are right on track this morning. The heat is coming for the next three days as advertised. Highs tomorrow still look to be somewhere around 103 - 105 in Medford. Not going to be a record for us. The record high in Medford is 108 for July 1st. But, just because Medford will not set records does not mean that will not be the case for all areas tomorrow. We could see records fall at the Coast, even in areas other than Brookings. I say that because a Chetco Effect is going over there and will through tomorrow. This means highs could top 90 in Brookings and Harbor. Actually should. Red Mound RAWS east of Brookings is already getting the east northeasterly winds. Those will be reaching Brookings soon. Cooling for the area begins on Wednesday, and then continues for Thursday when we reach the low 90s. That will be the stopping point as we look to stay pretty stable with high temps holding between 91 - 95 from Thursday of this week out through Monday of next week. The thunderstorm threat for the region is better plotted now. We will see isolated storms fire up tomorrow afternoon as moisture leaks up from the south. Storms will pop over all of Northern California now, along with the Cascades and the Siskiyous. Some storms may pop through the night on Tuesday over the Cascades, east of the Cascades here in Oregon, and from Highway 97 east in Northern California. On Wednesday the number of storms will increase as will aerial coverage of where they will occur. Look for them in all of Northern California except the coastal zones, over the Cascades and east of the Cascades in Oregon. As I said yesterday, still looking at the possibility for some dry lightning to develop. But now that threat looks to be with the earliest forming storms on Tuesday. Not as likely now for Wednesday as we will see an increase in moisture in the storms. But still, with our dry conditions, any strikes on the outer edges of storms away from the main precipitation cores could spell trouble. I suspect that we are likely to see fire weather bulletins being issued later this morning. The chance for thunderstorms in our area ends on Wednesday as by Thursday the activity will be pushed well to our east. Even east of Lake County.
