WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Looking at the picture through the weekend and into next week.....NO changes this morning at all. The only issue that is any where in the models is the threat for windy conditions both today and tomorrow for both the Cascades and Northern California. Right where the fires are at. If it were not for the wind potential, fire fighters would be seeing exactly what they want to see with lowered temps and higher humidity. But the winds look like they could negate that. Winds could gust to 35 miles an hour at times, especially in the Cascades. With winds like those, fires become blow torches. Not good news. The winds will provide one benefit however. For those of us north of the Siskiyous, and west of the Cascades, they will help deliver a long holiday weekend that will be spectacular. No smoke for us as the winds drive it southeast and south away from Western and Southwest Oregon. Temps will also be very pleasant in the mid 80s warming to the upper 80s for Labor Day weekend. In other words.....darn near perfect to allow a wide range of outdoor activities. Next week we will see a brief warm up with 90s returning for Tuesday and the first day of school for many students. But, by the time we reach next Thursday and Friday, we will see temps back to right on seasonal normals with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
