WEATHER TODAY Cloudy with outbreaks of rain in Leinster and east Ulster, which will fall as sleet on higher ground. Elsewhere in the country after any fog and frost clear it will be largely dry with some sunny spells developing later, although occasional showers will form along the west coast and once again these may be wintry on higher ground. Cool, with highs of 3 to 8 degrees in light variable breezes. Tonight Rain and sleet will continue for a time tonight in the northeast. Showers, some wintry will mainly affect parts of the west and the southwest, and they may spread further east. Generally drier for the rest of the country, with clear spells.
