WEATHERWatch by Meteorologist Malika Dudley: Today we expect partly cloudy skies and scattered windward and mauka showers for our north and east facing shores. Mostly sunny skies leeward. Breezy trades are expected to continue out of the NE 15 - 25 mph, gusting to 40 with gradual weakening through Wednesday. The trend with showers is for slightly drier and more stable conditions over the next couple of days. High temps on the cool side but a degree or two higher than yesterday from 73° - 81°(61° - 64° at 5,000). Surfwise, the mix of short period NE trade swell and mid-period NNW swell continues to drop off and the high surf advisory has been cancelled. Sloppy conditions today with overhead waves, possibly double overhead on the sets at the spots that catch it best. NW pulses lining up for later this week. Sunset tonight: 6:36pm Sunrise tomorrow: 6:31am Photo taken from north Kihei.
