Isaiah 16:1-14 (Page 0740 in the TLASB). “One of David’s Descendants…” (By Barry) WORSHIP: This is a DEEP one… https://youtube/watch?v=4QDnVD7gu5Y SCRIPTURE: blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Isa&c=16&t=NLT In the midst of a very tough, difficult chapter, let’s focus on one single thought from verse 5: “THEN GOD WILL ESTABLISH ONE OF DAVID’S DESCENDANTS AS KING. HE WILL RULE WITH MERCY AND TRUTH. HE WILL ALWAYS DO WHAT IS JUST AND AND BE EAGER TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT.” You may remember that the Moabites were bad news, and were descendants of Lot (through his relationship with his own older daughter-remember THAT?), and this passage tells us the Moabites are going to be in a LOT of trouble. But way more important than that is the news that… One of David’s descendants is coming. Who? Jesus Himself! 700 years before He showed up, Isaiah had these three amazing prophecies to say about Him: —He will rule with mercy and truth. — He will ALWAYS do what is just. — He will be EAGER to do what is right. And that prophecy came true. Great news, huh? PRAYER: Based on the example of Jesus, here are some things you might like to pray about… — When you are in charge, are you a good leader? Do you lead with mercy and truth? — Are you consistent? Do you USUALLY do the right thing... OR, do you ALWAYS do the right thing? — What is your attitude in serving Jesus? Are you happy, and willing to do what He asks? OR, do you do the right thing out of obligation, or because you are afraid of getting caught?
