WEDNESDAY with Pastor Cliff - Set Aside: Bill Struve, and many others farmers, set aside some land every year and let it rest. Does land need rest? A friend of mine told that, every few weeks, he sets aside every bowling pin in his bowling alley from service and puts them on a shelf - alternating them with another set of pins. Do bowling pins need rest? The land benefits from rest because the crops take nutrients out of the soil. A good farmer will let tracts of land rest for a year or more because the land benefits from the rest. Apparently, bowling pins need rest for a couple of weeks. After which, they come back with more action and bounce and, in turn, last longer. Do you think that you need rest? Well, God says that you need rest and since He created you, He is going to have the best insight about what you do and do not need. God knows something about you and me that we tend to forget. God wants you to have a day where you can just be with one another, love and receive love. God wants you to slow down in this hurried life so others can see how you are doing and so you can see how others are doing. Maybe God is trying to talk with you about what you need but He can’t get through because you are too hurried. Psalm 139:23-24
