WEEK 2 WINGMAN FYI! FYI! FYI!!! When your Trainee writes - TopicsExpress

WEEK 2 WINGMAN FYI! FYI! FYI!!! When your Trainee writes home and mentions a buddys name, its usually their LAST NAME. I love telling stories, so here is a funny story Ill share with ya....... My son wrote home after the first few weeks, and told me some of the things he and his wingman did together. His wingmans name was Richard. As a curious and excited Mom, I posted all over the AFWM Main Page weekly looking for a loved one with a Trainee named Richard. I even had every mom, dad, and girlfriend keepin a watchful eye out for RICHARD on any other Air Force page they might have visited as well. Every once in awhile, Id have a person raise their hand saying their son or boyfriends name was Richard....... only to come to find out that their Richard was NOT the same Richard who was in my sons FLT . :( Weeks went by, letters went back n forth, and then the awesome WEEK 4 phone call come. It was so good to hear his voice, and he shared what info he could share with me. During our WEEK 4 phone conversation, I asked my Trainee, So who is Richard? Do you know his last name? My son replied uhhhh....I dont know his first name Mom. That IS his last name. I found out then, after all these weeks, Richard WAS the last name! He had no clue what his first name was. They dont use the first name. Ha! Needless to say, I never did find RICHARDs loved ones on this site......and during the WEEK 7 call, my son didnt even know if RICHARDs family was on Facebook or even if they got on the internet. :/ Now more than anything, I, as a loving mother, wanted to meet this RICHARD, along with his momma, and thank him for being my sons wingman, while havin his back this last 8 1/2 weeks. I decided to send a few letters his way (without a first name I might add because my son didnt know it yet). Ha! By WEEK 7, other moms and girlfriends had found their Trainees buddies in the AFWM site and were chattin up a storm. I was happy for them, but sad because I still hadnt met mine. :(. Upon Graduation weekend, you can imagine the excitement that had built up. We all got to see our Trainees in the Run, then watched with joyous, tearful eyes the Coin Ceremony, and then anxiously waited for those 3 second hugs!......and then proudly walked around the Base afterwards following our Airmans lead as to not overstep our boundaries. As we were sitting in the pizza parlor on Base, my phone is dingin to beat the band.....getting text after text after text from my friends who are also with their own new Airmen. I thought thered been an emergency of some kind! Lo and behold, right there on my phone screen, there it was........a text from the other Mommas in my AF Wingmom Group AND a picture of RICHARD. My friends had found RICHARD! at one of the eating places, and like the proud Mommas they were, asked if they could take a picture of him for his Wingmans momma,....lil ole me. :) Anxious to report, at the Dorm Tour, I finally met RICHARD; my son lemme know RICHARD thought all of us were nuts for treating him like a movie star. Lol! At that point, RICHARD steered clear of me, because my son had convinced him that I was nuts. Ha! :) WINGMOM TERRY REPORTS AS ORDERED! Happy searching for your own Trainees wingman!!!! UPDATE: RICHARD just accepted my friend request (insert happy dance). Lol! The only thing left to complete this story would be to meet his mom......because thats just what us crazy moms do...right?! :) HUA!!! -Wingmom Terry 💖✈️💖✈️💖✈️💖✈️
