WEEKEND TRAFFIC & TRANSPORT WRAP FOR SUNDAY 25 AUGUST: Multiple Events at Sydney Olympic Park PARKINSON’S NSW UNITY RUN Cathy Freeman Park 8km run start 8:30am 4km run start 10am Walk start 11:30am Finish 12:30pm AFL: GWS GIANTS v RICHMOND TIGERS Skoda Stadium Gates open 3pm First bounce 3:20pm Finish 5:50pm ** Travel on Sydney Trains, NSW TrainLink (intercity and regional) and Sydney Buses is included for Parkinson’s NSW Unity Run participants who have registered online only. Just show your official 2013 e-ticket. ** AFL fans and those taking part in the Parkinson’s NSW Unity Run who have not registered online will have to buy a ticket to travel. ** Olympic Park is the closest train station. Regular trains will be operating between Olympic Park and the city, however due to trackwork, buses will be replacing trains between Lidcombe and Olympic Park. ** Buses will also be replacing trains between Olympic Park and Bankstown, Merrylands, Parramatta and Carlingford due to trackwork. The Blue Mountains, Northern, Western and Cumberland lines will also be affected. ** Route 525 buses will be operating between Parramatta and Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park and Route 526 buses run from the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf to Sydney Olympic Park until 7:28pm. ** Low tides mean buses will be replacing ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere for services due to depart Circular Quay at 4pm, 5pm and 6:05pm and Parramatta at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm. PUB2PUB FUN RUN & WALK Dee Why to Newport Start 8am Finish 12pm ** Road closures and special event clearways will be in place in Collaroy, Warriewood, Mona Vale and Newport for the event which starts at Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club and finishes at Newport Arms Hotel. ** Roads will start closing from 7:30am and will progressively reopen, with all roads to be reopened by midday. There will also be lane closures in place along the route. ** Major road closures include: o MONA VALE: Pittwater Road southbound between Park Street and Barrenjoey Road. o COLLAROY: Beach Road. o WARRIEWOOD: Peal Place, Bruce Street and Narrabeen Park Parade. o NEWPORT: The Avenue, Waterview Street and Beaconsfield Street. ** Barrenjoey Road will be closed at the intersection of Pittwater Road in Mona Vale for approximately 10 minutes at 8:30am. ** A 40km/h speed limit will be enforced along sections of Pittwater Road and Barrenjoey Road between Narrabeen and Newport during the event. ** Special event clearways will be in place on Pittwater Road between Dee Why and Narrabeen from 4am until 9am. ** As a result of the road closures, Route L90 and 155 buses will be diverted between 7:30am and midday. Route L90 buses will use Barrenjoey Road instead of Beaconsfield Street, while Route 155 buses will use Melbourne Avenue instead of Narrabeen Park Parade. THE COLOUR RUN Centennial Park Start 9am Finish 11am ** Public transport is the best way to the get to the fun run as there is very limited parking around Centennial Park. ** A number of regular Sydney Buses services, including Route M10, M50, 339, 355, 372, 373, 374, 376, 377, 391, 392, 393, 394, 395, 396, 397 and 399 buses stop in the vicinity of Centennial Park. ** If you are catching a train on the Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line afterwards, head to Bondi Junction, which is a 15 minute walk from Centennial Park. Those catching a train on other lines are advised to make their way to Central and catch a train from there. ** Motorists travelling around Centennial Park, especially along Oxford Street, Alison Road, Darley Road, Lang Road and York Road should allow plenty of extra travel time and expect delays until approximately midday.
