WEEKLY NEWSLETTER Dear All, Coming up this week we have the weekly nine hole competition beginning on Saturday-n to make it easier for presentation the nine hole comp will now run from Saturday to the following Friday, winners will be presented on Saturdays. We have a medley stableford sponsored by Mark and Leigh Bowring this Saturday,thank very much Mark and Leigh. Sunday is also a medley stableford and the 7th round of the Summer Cup and Wednesday next is a medley par. Don’t forget to get your team organised for Australia Day, The ambrose in 4’s is on the Monday holiday, it has a shotgun start at 10 am and includes breakfast and lunch. As of yesterday we had about 23 teams entered. Also as of yesterday Andrew Bateman was looking for a game so if you are one short give Andy a ring. Sixteen players braved the quite warm conditions yesterday where yours truly had 39 points to win from Nev Birch on a count back. We have a committee of management meeting this coming Saturday at 9.30. Match committee members on duty this week are Rita and Linda who will put the field out and Russell and Ruth who will bring it in. On bar duty this Sunday we have Mick beginning the day, Rita has the middle session and Russell Abraham will bring it to a close. The squares were drawn last Saturday and Sue and Steve Johns, Greg Young and Tom Minns took home $75 each. Our smart meter was connected this morning, thanks heaps to Phil Frost for all his work. The Concert on the Course has been bought forward a month!! It is now on February 28th – ‘Grab Ya Cat “ is the band and I’ll give you all the other details next week. There is a Social Committee meeting this Sunday at 10 am – love to see you there. You may have seen the write ups in the Sunraysia Daily on the golf clubs in the area each Wednesday. It is our turn next Wednesday – we have a game with the reporter this Saturday – hopefully those playing with him will leave a good impression!! There is also a meeting in Mildura on Monday regarding the future of Golf Week, will let you know the results of that next week as well. The course is holding up well despite the weather we have been experiencing. Thanks Simon, Daniel, Nev and the Dad’s Army boys for all your hard work. Please remember if you happen to land near one of the dripper lines to the new trees don’t move the line, just take the drop you are entitled too. Finally, the syllabus for the coming season is nearing completion but if you have any thoughts re the way we play our club championships this year let me know ASAP. Numbers have dwindled in the past few years and we would love to hear any ideas re increasing participation. The gateway have come on board as a major sponsor and we have a couple of other irons in the fire re sponsorship as well - so any thoughts????? Catch you on the Course, Cheers, Mick
