WEEKLY NEWSLETTER Good evening All, Coming up this week at your favourite golf club we have Klemm’s Day on Saturday. John and Kerry always put on a super day and this will be no exception. As usual a “Triple Sixes” game will be played – holes 1- 6 you take the best stableford score from your threesome, holes 7- 12 the best two scores and for the final 6 holes all scores are counted. Your game will be preceded by a bbq lunch cooked by “Duff” and “Wilks”and as usual a great array of prizes will be there for the winning trio’s. It is an Open event so please invite your mates from other clubs to join us. The weekly nine hole comp also begins on Saturday, either nine any time, Andy Bateman was the winner last week with 21 points. Sunday is the Drummond Golf day, there are still plenty of spots left in the field and Barry at Drummond golf tells me the prizes are excellent. Wednesday next has both genders playing stableford , the ladies comp is sponsored by Beauty on Eighth. Yesterday Brian Furey turned back the clock with a fantastic plus 7 in the men’s par comp, a lazy plus 21 in front of some of the field but I won’t tell anyone about your minus 14 Col! Michael Clifford was the runner up with plus 3. Deb Hassell continued to do damage to her handicap scoring a fine 39 points to win the ladies A Grade event from Denese Rohde who had 34 while Kath Cattanach had 37 points which included a five point birdie on the 5th. New member Norma Mathieson had 35 points to be the runner up, well done Norma. The following weekend is the River Towns Classic. Loxton on Friday Oct 24th, Saturday at Red Cliffs and Sunday in Mildura. It is a super weekend, the people playing are great, the courses in very good nick, and the trophies are excellent. You can play the three days or if time doesn’t allow two or even one. I need all entries in by Sunday please so all the preliminary work can be done. Adrian Hensgen has entered and offered to drive anyone who would like a ride to Loxton – he has room for 4. Duties this week fall to Sue Poole, Steve Fitzpatrick and Dee Hopkins who will man and woman the bar while match committee members on duty are Ruth and Lloyd who will put the field out while Sue Poole and Craig Gursansky will bring it in. Some of the fairways have been spiked – if your ball happens to land in one of the holes you may take it out and place it on the fairway. The harvested areas behind some greens now have drop zones on each end. A note from the ladies captain – the ladies Christmas dinner will be held towards the end of November and the cost of $36 can be paid to Carmel at the bar. The men’s Presentation night will be held on Friday November 14th, the cost for those paying early is $15 while paying on the night will be $20. This money too can be paid to Carmel. The two course meal will be followed by a review of the year and a number of other surprises! The Committee of management will meet this Saturday at 9.30 am. “The Pig” has raised $5008 to date. Some of this money will be used for the restumping of the clubhouse floor and when that is completed a plan for further renovations of “The Old Girl” will be devised. We thank you for contributing to The Pig, it has created lots of interest and in the end we will all benefit from it. Bob Pain won the $71 on offer last Saturday. That’s it for this week, there is lots of golf to be played so you better join in the fun, Catch you on the course, Cheers, Mick
