WEEKLY UPDATE (March 5, 2014) Hello my brothers & sisters! The first message of the 50-Day Adventure series was The Church You’ve Always Longed For…Works at Being a Caring Family. That’s one of the things that I love about our church – that we really do work at being a caring family (listen to the messages from the series online here: tiny.cc/church_longed_for). This past Sunday after the church service Maria & I had the opportunity to visit with & pray over Kathy Rahmani’s ailing father, Tom Cavender. On our way home Kathy called to say that he went to be with the Lord. Please reach out to our sister Kathy as she grieves the loss of her father. The viewing is tonight from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, and the funeral will be tomorrow at 1:00 PM. Both the viewing & the funeral will be at Underwood Funeral Home. This week: Lent begins, the 50-Day Spiritual Adventure continues! Today is Ash Wednesday, the official start of the Lenten season (if you’d like to experience a wonderful Ash Wednesday service, consider checking out our mother church, Heritage Christian Church in Westerville tonight at 7:00 PM). Lent represents the 40 days leading up to Easter, a time when many Christians choose to abstain from food or certain activities as a mark of consecration during the season. I’m asking that we would do more to press in to God during our 50-Day Spiritual Adventure, specifically: DAILY: Study the assigned Scripture passages and answer the questions in your journal. Pray the Listening with Jesus Prayer Write down something you appreciate about our church or people in our church (use the chart on pages 40-41 in your journal) TWICE EACH WEEK Tell someone else what you appreciate about our church WEEKLY OR BI-WEEKLY Attend a 50-Day Adventure small group. You don’t need to have your journals to participate; the group time, the journaling & the messages on Sundays will all have the same theme. ONCE DURING THE ADVENTURE Get together with someone outside your normal circle of friends (p. 13 of the journal) Empower someone by helping him or her develop an interest or ability (p. 17 of the journal) Invite someone to church 50-Day Adventure Groups Thom & Connie Bullock’s group will be meeting on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM. If you’ve not joined a group yet, why not check theirs out tonight? Their address is 1091 N McMahill Rd in Milford Center. Shane Bailey will be leading a group this Friday night at the home of Michelle Ingmire (18282 Boerger Road), and one on Sunday morning at 9:00 AM at Bunsold Middle school. Women’s Bible Study Tonight, Wednesday, March 5, 7:00 p.m., 1418 Park Meadow Rd., Marysville The Beth Moore study called To Live Is Christ: The Life and Ministry of Paul” continues tonight at the home of Mary Rose Hamparian. Bring A Friend Sunday This Sunday, March 9, 10:30 AM This coming Sunday will be a great one for you to invite that friend out during our 50-Day Adventure! The message is entitled The Church You’ve Always Longed For…Welcomes All People. Pray about who you’d like to invite & then expect them to come when you do! Please consider bringing a couple dozen of your favorite cookies to share right after the church service. We’ll have punch available.
