WEIRD DUMPSTER TALE - I havent really reported on this dumpster (lazy) -but those of you who have hung out with me downtown in the last week have heard all about it (and seen the weird junk Ive been finding....as Ive been sorting it at city hall while I played my gutar) - this house has been awesome to me - BUT -Im not going back there - yikes - the Mark guy (whos name is on the dumpster) showed up (and I was blocking the driveway on top of things) -and he was mad (at first) - saying all sorts of people have been trespassing - people down the street - etc-- so hes been driving by in the evenings -scoping things out weird guy - he made me drop my box of stuff - I was about to flee but he took a photo of my plate (and his son is a cop in Northampton - to boot) - so I decided to chat him up.....definitely didnt want any cops calling my house!! - (even tried to get him to hire me but he doesnt like the way I go about my business ) - - he wouldnt sell me the box (of mostly crap) I had filled up -( nothing I cant live without) - then I tried buying one of these 1940s Karo syrup bottles - for a buck - then he said 5 bucks - I said well I cant do that - and he said see -its just crap then (if its not worth like 100 bucks -dont think he cares) - - he must have been teaching me a lesson - that was the impression I was getting - but yeah - hed rather make a point than have 5 bucks - I dunno.... (I did ask - had I stopped by while the crew was here - would you have let me look in the dumpster - and he was like oh sure.... -but - he knows that is a hypothetical and a chance to sound like a good guy - a few sentences before that - he was lecturing me on liability - - none of that is particularly weird however- as Im replaying the conversation in my head -- - he said something weird - or maybe I mis-heard (but I really really dont think so) - he said when I told you to drop everything - you dropped what was in your pockets - (its real hard to remember the whole conversation/context because I was kinda freaking out) - which is weird - because that sounds like a good thing as opposed to a bad thing - BUT - I didnt have anything in my pockets - and I didnt put anything *in* my pockets when he said that either (because maybe he said you dropped something in your pockets - but he really didnt - he said you dropped what was in your pockets - like he was praising me for being honest - though he was ticked so nothing came out sounding particularly good on his end) now - - at the end of the conversation - the pocket thing came up again (I dont even remember how- because we were talking about the estate sale business - maybe I brought it up again...because it was rattling around in my head at that point ) - and I said well - sometimes I put small things in my pockets so I dont lose them - and he said whatever youve gotta tell yourself (?)- so I dont know what the hell was going on - it doesnt make any sense in hindsight - I replay it in my head and I cant make heads or tails of it - the closest thing to pockets - -when I hopped in the car and moved it - I took some cash out of my pockets - because I only wanted to act like I had 5 bucks on me (in case he said - give me 10 for the box - which I had a ten....you get the idea) - but he was pulling his truck in the driveway at that point - so - he couldnt have seen me dumping something out of my pockets if I had been - (and I think the pocket comment might have been before I moved the car) - so -it was just weird all around - he kept pawing things in the dumpster saying see this here - Id put this at the sale - and someone would try to get me down to 8 bucks - I guess if you own your own dumpster - you dont care about filling it(?) - nearly everything in there is sell-able - he seems very arbitrary about what he keeps - so maybe hes just nuts and I shouldnt over think things - Im staying away - he drove off - and I could have grabbed one of those bottles easily -but - maybe he was testing me or something - Im just kinda freaked out now - because he is a big burly dirty looking guy....
