WELL DONE TTPS ...Suspected thief shot dead By Susan Mohammed susan.mohammed@trinidadexpress Story Created: Nov 4, 2014 at 11:20 PM ECT (Story Updated: Nov 4, 2014 at 11:20 PM ECT ) A suspected thief was shot dead and his alleged accomplice arrested by police officers in Couva on Monday. The deceased was identified as Kwasi DeCoteau, of Alexander Street, Corinth, and the suspect an 18-year-old man of Vistabella, San Fernando. Police said that around 4.40 p.m. two men armed with guns entered Cell Serve Limited at the corner of Southern Main Road and Noel Street. The thieves forced employees into a storeroom and robbed the business of $7,000 and $150,000 worth of cellphones. The thieves made good their escape on foot. A report was made to the police and officers led by Senior Superintendent of Police of the Central Division Johnny Abraham , Inspector Terrence Williams and Sgt Tooleram and officers of the Central Division Task Force and Couva CID responded. Officers cornered the suspects in La Croix Street, where they fired several shots at police. Police said DeCoteau was shot and taken to the Couva District Health Facility where he succumbed to his wounds. The other suspect escaped, but he was later arrested while travelling in a vehicle along the Solomon Hochoy Highway. He was arrested and taken to the Couva CID. He was expected to be charged with armed robbery and possession of firearm and ammunition. An autopsy was expected to be done on DeCoteau’s body at the Forensic Science Centre yesterday.
