WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY 2:00 PM, TUESDAY, 13 JANUARY 2015 Source: JTWC, NOAA, USA 1. WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC AREA (180 TO MALAY PENINSULA): A. TROPICAL CYCLONE : NONE. B. TROPICAL DISTURBANCE : 1 (1) The area of convection previously located near 8.8N 143.3E, is now located near 8.5N 142.5E, approximately 593 kms SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF GUAM. Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 30 TO 40 kph. Minimum sea level pressure is estimated to be near 1003 MB. The potential for the development of a SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE within the next 24 hours remains HIGH. 2. SOUTH PACIFIC AREA (WEST COAST OF SOUTH AMERICA TO 135 EAST): A. TROPICAL CYCLONE : NONE. B. TROPICAL DISTURBANCE : 1 (1) The area of convection previously located near 17.2S 155.5E, is now located near 17.8S 156.5E, approximately 732 kms EAST-SOUTHEAST OF WILLIS ISLAND, AUSTRALIA. Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 30 TO 40 kph. Minimum sea level pressure is estimated to be near 1005 MB. The potential for the development of a SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE within the next 24 hours remains LOW.
