WHAT A RELIEF! I CAN SLEEP TONIGHT KNOWING THAT THE MAN THAT HELD UP MY BANK WHERE I WORK P/T AS A BANK TELLER WAS ARRESTED TODAY AFTER A SPREE OF ROBBERIES IN LONG ISLAND. Police arrested two men in connection with the robberies of seven Long Island banks over the last month, including four that were hit within the same week. Melville residents Adam Baron, 18, and Jaime Ramirez, 25, were taken into custody Wednesday in the Avalon Apartments complex where they live. Authorities say the men are believed to have robbed different banks, four of them Chase banks, in various neighborhoods, including Rockville Centre, Farmingdale, North Bellmore and Westbury between the day after Christmas and Tuesday. Sometimes the suspects worked together; sometimes they worked alone. Last week, police say Baron and Ramirez allegedly hit three banks and made off with cash from two of them. In each case, detectives say a man would walk into the bank and hand the teller a demand note. Often he was wearing a mask or bandanna across his face. The teller would hand off money and hed run off. In the robberies where both suspects were allegedly involved, the role of the second suspect wasnt immediately clear. No injuries were reported in any of the robberies. Baron was charged with five counts of second-degree robbery and one count of second-degree attempted robbery. Ramirez was also charged with multiple counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery.
