WHAT BELIEVING IN THE OLD KING JAMES BIBLE HAS DONE FOR ME A Personal Testimony By LeighAnn Mycko Before I got saved, I spent my life yearning for TRUTH. As a spiritually starved atheist I searched the occult for truth, and came face to face with the supernatural. This evidence was enough to change my mind about the possibility of a Creator, although at that point I didn’t view God as a person, but simply an invisible force. I mainly studied astrology, but I also dabbled quite a bit in tarot, I ching, and alchemy. All of these complex subjects seemed to provide an endless amount of “knowledge,” as I dug deeply into quiet study for 10-12 hours almost every day, dissecting massive amounts of details. Of course, having all this “knowledge” made me feel wise…LOL. While in reality I knew nothing of the things of God through them, and nothing of real FAITH. These things gave me a false sense of wisdom, a false sense of faith because I began to depend on them. And besides that, these things failed to motivate me to point others to the real God, because I was too busy playing god myself as I used divination to predict the future for others. It was an extremely heavy burden to be advising others on major life choices, which hinged upon how “I” interpreted their charts, always worrying “What if I make a mistake and my advice causes them harm?” Now, looking back, I feel quite silly about the intellectual ditch digging that consumed me then. The bottom line was that having all that occult “knowledge” failed to help me obtain true peace and joy. It didn’t solve my personal problems. So, there I sat one day, alone and sobbing, feeling helpless and hopeless. Then, it dawned on me: after six years, steeped in all that study and discipline, I was STILL in a loveless abusive relationship with no one to turn to for help…. which made me wail for hours. After I calmed down, I put all that crap away, and got out my bible and asked Jesus Christ to save me, and He did! Of course, my whole life and marriage was healed and I was no longer burdened. The Lord’s mercy is extraordinary; His grace glorious! His Holy Spirit is undeniably real and alive within us who believe. I had found the “presence” of God that I had searched for for so long. Then, about a year later, suddenly and unexpectantly, God took me on the most exciting and joyous journey I’ve ever been on in my life. He gave me the desire to find His true word. As I collected bibles from thrift stores and yard sales, and compared bible versions, I discovered that entire verses were left out of the modern versions. The deeper I got into this research the clearer it became that the modern versions were NOT saying the same thing as the old King James Bible was. There WAS a difference. The biggest shock was that many of the modern versions changed the verses which prove the fact that Jesus Christ is God! After spending almost two years researching the bible version issue, I considered learning Hebrew and Greek. Then, I realized that I was about to make the same prideful intellectual mistake all over again. You see, you can spend your entire life comparing bible versions, and you can even learn Greek and/or Hebrew, but what do you still have? DOUBT. You know WHY? Because you’re still SEARCHING for the truth. As far as you know, you haven’t found it yet. You have all that “knowledge,” yet you are still BURDENED with not being sure. You don’t know if you should believe what you’re reading or not, so there’s little chance you will believe it, leaving your mind stimulated yes, but very much unsettled. What was it that apostle Paul said? 1Corinthians 3:18 KJV: “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, LET HIM BECOME A FOOL, THAT HE MAY BE WISE.” The real genius is in simplifying. Simplification can bring crystal clear clarity that you just can’t find in complexity. How often has a small child’s reasoning amazed us by the shear brilliance of their simple conclusion? And what was it that Jesus said? Luke 18:17 KJV: “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a LITTLE CHILD shall in no wise enter therein.” So, I decided that I didn’t want to get into the trappings of the smarty-pant syndrome again, because there’s NO END to it, nor is there any comfort in it. I was looking for a faith that would bring me peace and unburden my mind, not just keep it busy. I was looking for the ultimate authority that I could REST in. So, like a child—full of hope & trust—I prayerfully considered these verses from my heavenly Father: Ge 18:14 KJV: “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?” ~GOD Isa 34:16 KJV: “Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read:” Ps 12:6-7 KJV: “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Ec 12:12 KJV: “… of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.” Mal 3:6 KJV: “For I am the LORD, I change not;” ~GOD Mt 7:14 KJV: “…narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” ~Jesus Mt 24:35 KJV: “…my words shall not pass away.” ~Jesus Mr 13:31 KJV: “…my words shall not pass away.” ~Jesus Lu 21:33 KJV: “…my words shall not pass away.” ~Jesus Ac 13:49 KJV: “And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.” Ac 19:20 KJV: “So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.” Ro 10:17 KJV: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” 2Cor 2:17 KJV: “For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” 2Cor 11:3 KJV: “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” 1Tim 6:10 KJV: “For the love of money is the root of all evil:” Then, I considered how the numerous modern bible versions keep CHANGING for profit, while the Authorized King James Version is the ONLY bible that’s copyrighted; it is public domain—it does not change. “One bible version IS pretty narrow,” I thought to myself. Then, with the simplicity of a child’s mind I reasoned it out: “God is good. God cannot lie. God loves me and He promised to preserve His words so I could KNOW His truth. He tells me to seek out His BOOK. His says His words are pure. If my Creator is powerful enough to inspire His words, then He is surely powerful enough to preserve His words in a book. God is holy, holy, holy! And the Bible that reflects God in the BEST LIGHT must be the true word of God. The Bible that exalts my precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ TO THE HIGHEST must be God’s word of TRUTH.” Then, I prayed to God, “I love You, and I BELIEVE YOU!” And, I never looked back. You know what happened soon after that? God blessed me with much revelation and joy—and continues to do so—and He gave me the ability to begin a ministry to serve Him, with little striving, and with NO DOUBTS. His grace abounds and my burden is light because I lean on Him and His word. The answers come the more I learn, but they don’t come from me, nor from man’s books, they come from the final authority of the word of God. They come from the Authorized King James Version, God’s true word, inspired and preserved—just as He promised. Praise God with a loud voice for all His mighty works! Jesus is Lord of lords and King of kings, and creating a book, which contains His word of truth, was not hard for Him. It was only hard for me to BELIEVE it, but now its not.
