WHAT DO OTHERS THINK OF YOU? Earlier this week Matt, my head - TopicsExpress

WHAT DO OTHERS THINK OF YOU? Earlier this week Matt, my head coach at Phoenix Pro Fitness, and I got together for one of our regular programming reviews. As we chatted over a coffee, we came to talk about how governed, and fearful, many people are of what other people think. So many of us feel judged, particularly when it comes to what we eat, what we carry around the supermarket in our shopping baskets, or what we have on our plate in a cafe or restaurant. People who carry excess weight are particularly at the mercy of worrying about what other people think; its as if they feel that they shouldnt eat at all. Weve evolved to care greatly about what others think of us, since our reputation ultimately affected whether others in the tribe would help or hurt an individuals chances of survival. It is completely normal to want to be respected and loved, and to seek that for yourself. But when what others think of you causes you stress and anxiety, it ceases to serve you well. Think about how much time you spend, even subconsciously, considering what others think of you. Be aware of doing things purely to receive praise or admiration. Instead, focus on bringing your best. Focus on virtue, benevolence and self development. Focus on learning. In the end that is all any of us can do, and it is more than enough.
