WHAT GOOD IS KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT WISDOM; Wisdom, according to one - TopicsExpress

WHAT GOOD IS KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT WISDOM; Wisdom, according to one dictionary, means, “knowledge of what is true or right, coupled with just judgment as to action.” It is one thing to possess knowledge; it is a very different thing to know how to utilize knowledge properly – how to apply it wisely in dealing with the many complex decisions and issues we confront everyday. This is why, I believe, the biblical Old Testament book of Proverbs makes wisdom such a significant topic. In fact, the first nine chapters of Proverbs speak almost exclusively about wisdom in its many forms, while the 22 chapters that follow consist of sayings that show wisdom in action in everyday life situations. Let’s look at a few of the observations about wisdom in Proverbs: HERE ARE SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT WISDOM; WISDOM guides us to a rich, rewarding life. The world beckons, seeking to seduce us into pursuing the wrong goals. Wisdom enables us to recognize the goals and establish a proper focus that will give us a truly meaningful, rewarding life. “(Wisdom) calls from the highest point in the city…’Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding’” (Proverbs 9:3,6). Wisdom comes from God. True wisdom cannot be found in a self-help book or at a seminar led by a celebrated speaker. It comes from God, who has demonstrated wisdom from the dawn of history. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10). WISDOM is a highly valued commodity. In business we eagerly expend our resources on many things, but wisdom cannot be bought at any price – it is priceless. “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver” (Proverbs 16:16) “He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers” (Proverbs 19:8). WISDOM guides proper action and speech. What is the correct response in a complex, critical situation? Wisdom helps us to understand what is best to do – and to say – in any particular situation.. “The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction” (Proverbs 16:21). “A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction” (Proverbs 16:23). “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense” (Proverbs 19:11). WISDOM paves the way to success. No one sets out in life – or a career – to fail, but too often that is the result. Seeking to gain and properly apply wisdom will protect us from many personal and professional pitfalls. “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures” (24:3-4 Solomon did not ask God his wealth, glory and fame but he ask Wisdom. Then, God give him all his wealth because of his wisdom. Have a blessed day to everyone.
