WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS!! So as you all know, We have recently moved here.. Yesterday Xander and I went driving around our area to see what daycares and preschools we could find for him. We found a couple and all were very welcoming but werent quite right for whatever reason. Driving to get some lunch we passed a few signs that said preschool so we followed the arrows. The preschool looked good from the outside so we went in to have a chat with them. Once I got inside I explained that we were new to the area and were looking for a preschool for my son.. this lady looked at me, then looked at xander and quite rudley said yeah.. were an indigenous specific centre then just starred at me. Not sure what to say because she was looking at us with disgust, I just politely replied with. . Oh ok, thats fine. well my son isnt indigenous so.. he cant go here then? She snarled and said No, he cant attend here, we are an indigenous only centre. (She was as white as me btw) Anyway.. pretty offended and disgusted in the way that she spoke to us I said Not a problem, thanks anyway. Took my sons hand walked out of there. So you have an indigenous only centre? A little racist-ish.. but whatever. I was not bothered in the slightest about the centre only being for indigenous children.. I was bothered with how this lady treated us because were white! My question is this : How do you think it would go if I opened a Caucasian specific preschool and ONLY let caucasian children attend? Denied attendance for any indigenous children, along with any asian children etc. How much shit do you think I would cop for doing that? People would have me shut down! So why is it ok for it to be the other way around and to look down on an innocent child like that because he isnt indigenous? Putting a stop to racism goes both ways.
