WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME IS YOUR VOTE, NOT YOUR PARTY – NDUBUAKU By Fortune Obikwere As the February 2015 general elections draw closer, candidates of different political parties in the state have been so busy meeting the electorates and selling their individual manifestos to them. One of such candidates is the Imo State House of Assembly Candidate for Orlu State Constituency under Labour Party, Hon. Barr. Mike Ndubuaku. While in a sensitizing rally at Ihioma Civic Centre, Orlu LGA on January 21st 2015, the Ubaha Ogberuru born politician told over 10,000 people gathered to listen to him that they should vote him as the Imo State House of Assembly man for Orlu in the forthcoming election. “Though am in the Labour Party, am not asking you all to join Labour party now (unless you so wish) as a criterion to vote me in that election but even while being an APC, PDP, APGA, Labour or any other party, you can still vote me as your candidate for that seat.” The Honourable Member said. He told his numerous supporters in the LGA that why he joined Labour Party was because of the injustice he suffered from few greedy politicians in the Council Area, who rigged him out during the December 3, 2015 LGA House of Assembly Primary pointing out that it was obvious that he could had won that election. He said that if he was not tear-gassed by the security agents at the venue of the election even when he was still an honorable member and subsequent putting off light when voting was taking place, it would have been possible for him to accept the verdict or the outcome of the whole exercise adding that because the teargass blind-folded him, he couldn’t know all that happened thereafter. Imo community News correspondent in Orlu noted that Barr. Ndubuaku in an emotion laden voice appealed to the electorate to vote him as their candidate even in his new Labour Party, which preaches equal justice for all. He said that a vote for him, Hon. Ndubuaku is a vote against injustice and intimidation in an election. He condemned the attitude of some politicians who regarded politics as a do or die affair and asked them to have a change of heart. The learned gentleman posits that his own type of politics was the one without bitterness. When ICNews correspondent in Orlu asked him why he decided to come to represent Orlu people for the 2nd time, he had this to say: i. “I have performed more than my predecessors in the same seat; ii. I will become a Ranking Member of the House, which will make me attract more dividend of democracy to Orlu people; iii. It would enable me build more projects in Orlu communities iv. It will be an opportunity for me to correct any of my mistakes and put all things right…” Barr.
