WHAT IS ROBERT KIYOSAKIS MIDDLE CLASS MONEY DISEASE?................................By Okiki Odero-Rege. Robert Kiyosaki is my hero! He is also a famous personal finance expert, with many books, sequels and series of the RICH DAD POOR DAD book. His financial philosophy actually transformed how I think about money. What is the RICH DAD POOR DAD all about? This book is a blue-print for all who desire to become RICH, or become Financially Independent. I prefer the latter description. What does it mean to be financially Independent? Perhaps, the better place to start is with Kiyosakis family history. Kiyosaki had two dads, according to the book. His real dad, who was employed poor, and died penniless and unemployed. Then there is his RICH DAD, his friends dad, who was a business man and a millionaire. In the book, he contrasts his two dads, and notes the fundamental difference between the RICH and the POOR, the financially DEPENDENT, and the financially INDEPENDENT. Importantly, he notes that the poor WORK FOR MONEY, while the rich HAVE THEIR MONEY WORKING FOR THEM. This distinction is FUNDAMENTAL. The poor and the middle class, according to Kiyosaki, DEPEND ON THEIR JOBS, while the rich DEPEND ON THEIR BUSINESSES. Thus, one group works for money, while the other group have their money working for them. In which category are you? Myself, I am poor. Currently, I am WORKING FOR MONEY, But, having read this book long before I got employed, I am progressively having my savings work for me. I will certainly GET UP THE HILL, thanks to Robert Kiyosaki, George Clason, and Thomas Stanley. Who is George Clason? George Clason is the author of THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON. His philosophy is similar to Kiyosakis. Actually, this is the primary means to wealth, saving and investing. Most people cannot save, and without savings, there can be no investment. This therefore leads us to a phenomenon that I have elected to call Robert Kiyosakis MIDDLE CLASS MONEY DISEASE. In RICH DAD POOR DAD, Robert Kiyosaki makes an interesting observation concerning the Middle Class. He says the while the RICH BUY ASSETS, the POOR BUY LIABILITIES. Robert Kiyosaki says the middle class can never move out of what he calls the RAT RACE, because the LIABILITIES THEY BUY, take money from them. Rich people buy ASSETS WHICH BRING IN MONEY. This is the phenomenon I have characterized as the MIDDLE CLASS MONEY DISEASE. Many other personal finance experts think that one of the primary weaknesses of the middle class is the DESIRE TO SHOW OFF, instead of actually focusing on WEALTH CREATION. Ujaluo is a disease affecting the middle class, the world over. This is nothing but the truth. Kiyosaki says that a personal car is a LIABILITY. This is because its maintenance TAKES MONEY AWAY. Buying a Matatu, however, BRINGS MONEY IN. I have localized the example to drive the point home. A middle class person, just employed is likely to buy a personal car rather than invest. This is why most middle class people are likely to retire poor and penniless, like the POOR DAD. To become Financially Independent should be every man and womans goal. Business requires capital, and capital cannot be accumulated minus self-discipline. Most middle class persons EAT EVERYTHING THEY EARN. Others live BEYOND THEIR MEANS This therefore means that they cannot INVEST. As a result, most never attain financial independence. The ideas is LIVING BELOW THE MEANS, and INVESTING THE DIFFERENCE. As Thomas Stanley observes, Whatever your income, live below your means. Are you suffering from THE MIDDLE CLASS MONEY DISEASE? Are you rich? Are you poor? What do you really want? Start, by becoming financially literate. Learn how wealth works. Start your financial independence journey, TODAY. As Thomas J. Stanley, author of THE MILLIONAIRE NEXT DOOR observes, The foundation of wealth accumulation is DEFENSE, and this defense should be anchored by Budgeting and Planning. Plan to be rich, START TODAY. ©2014. Okiki Odero-Rege. Okiki Oderos DAILY REFLECTIONS. All Rights Reserved.
