WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING AN HONORARY MAYOR….YOU ASK? As you are aware, there is no real Mayor of SouthShore, so this is a fun title which allows you to represent the community and the chamber as a “good will ambassador”(with a nice title)! The Honorary Mayor is encouraged to attend as many chamber events, ribbon cuttings and community events as possible during their term. It is up to each Honorary Mayor to be as involved as they would like to in the community! There are lots of opportunities to get out and show your support at community functions by simply showing up and introducing yourself as the Honorary Mayor….. it’s a pretty impressive title around here! You can also continue to raise funds around your selected charity or for other charities throughout your term. Residents love to show their support and with the title, you are sure to draw local support! At the end of the race, the money collected will be split between the SouthShore Chamber of Commerce and the selected charities. The candidate that raises the most money will have earned their title as the new Honorary Mayor of SouthShore.
