WHAT I’m Doing and WHERE I’m Going and WHY I’m Going - TopicsExpress

WHAT I’m Doing and WHERE I’m Going and WHY I’m Going There: I’m on a mission of love. (That may be the least cool or the most inspiring thing you’ve heard today, depending on what kind of a person you are.) The Sharknado Red Volkswagen Jetta shall be my chariot; the sprawling coasts of California and Oregon and Washington and the unknown roads of Canadia shall be my trails. This adventure will last 45 days, give or take a few moments. The first question to be asked is usually, “Why?” (Perhaps you have not asked why in your head but I will ask it for you.) Why? Because. Because the road. Because my voice echoes louder through uncertainty and the unfamiliar. Because 100-foot-tall redwoods look better than Bentleys driven by 5-foot-tall men. Because the wind on my skin after shirtless runs in nature feel like orgasms erupting gust by gust. Because Kerouac and Thoreau. Because clarity and the way she looks at me and the promise of hikes and hugs and naked bodies and sweat. Because love. BECAUSE. We always want to know why but I’d rather tell you what. What will the next 45 days look like? I have a mission and it’s simple: I want to reduce life to its simplest and most beautiful qualities. I want love to be my food and my thoughts and my words. I want to bathe in it, wrap it around myself at night for warmth, and rub my eyes at dawn with it glowing through the window shades. I want to write write write and wring those restless words from my brain (which doesn’t seem the place for them). I want them free from me but put to work on the souls behind every eye that reads them. And I want to mistrust my eyes when I see lack, and uncover the beauty and abundance that seem like ghosts to me at times, and wake them and bring them to life so that they are all I see. That’s all I want. Simplicity. So I may ask you for your bed or couch or floor, but I am not in want. This will be a shared experience and we will laugh and sing and dance which will cause us to laugh some more. I will tell you stories of the road and stay true to my waking at godly hours and create in your presence, which may invite the creator in you to return, if the two of you have been estranged. This is my mission and it begins now, with these words: I love you.
