WHAT MEANING IS THERE TO YOUR PATHETIC LIFE NOW? Last night I was at a holiday mixer where a casual acquaintance (who was pretty darn drunk) found out that Im no longer a Christian and beelined it across the room to interrupt a conversation, point a finger in my chest and assert/ask, Youre so f***ing smart, but what meaning is there to a sad, pathetic life without God? Ill admit, my first instinct was to slap the smug grin off his face. Instead, looking around the room, I took a deep breath, counted to three and calmly replied, I think we make our own meaning. But, the simplest answer seems to be to be good to your fellow man, woman, and child and do whatever you can to leave the world better than you found it. Could the same be said of God? Which God? Lets ask him, I closed my eyes, Dear Father, What is the meaning of life? After a long pause I opened my eyes and looked at him, Nobody was home. I think Ill stick to my own philosophy until I hear otherwise. Now, can I get back to my conversation with these lovely people? He just stared through me before eventually being escorted away by his wife. Ahh... the holidays. Thank you, Jesus. ;-)
