WHAT WILL YOU DO? Last night I was having a conversation with one of my friends when the conversation shifted to The Most Highs laws and commandments and whether or not we should still obey them. He mentioned being told that the laws are done away with because Jesus (Yeshua) have come. He asked, how do we know what we should be doing? Together we read Matthew 5. Matthew 5:17 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to FULFIL. Fulfil - Greek word #4137 - pleroo It means to verify (coincide with a prediction/prophecy) Then we went on to read its context in verses 18-19. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. I finalized with this analogy. If your mother asked you not to touch the cookie jar and you think that she just means to not have a cookie, what do you do? If you touch the jar but do not have a cookie, you did what you thought she meant and not what she said. Therefore, you are still in disobedience and though you did not have a cookie, you still touched the jar. The safest thing to do would be to not touch the jar. Why? Before Yeshua spoke that he came to verify the law he said this in verse 16 of Matthew 5. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. It made me think about the song performed by Karen Clark Sheard and Kierra KiKi Sheard, The Will Of God The safest place in the whole wide world is in the will of God! Enjoy!
