WHAT WOULD U LIK 2 B REMEMBERED FOR ? A life well spent making mistakes is better than a life spent doing nothing. With mistakes, it is asserted by a philosophy that one has been able to learn different ways of learning and doing things before eventually hitting aimed target. In life, there is a specific duration assigned to each and every being on earth. What we do with this period of our existence is a determinant to who we become and what influence we make on others. Making positives and genuine influence wherever we find ourselves is equal to making us fulfilled and laying down a legacy worthy of emulation. One of the greatest forces operating on the earth today is called INFLUENCE. Virtually everything in life is hinged on influence. The world revolves round influence and the world is sustained by influence. Parents influence their children, children influence their siblings, teenagers are influenced by their peers, lecturers influence their students and politician influences their voters. Additionally, books influence the readers, sellers influence their buyer and business owners influence their customers. Life is simply a flow chart of influence. Advertisements influence our choice, and televisions, radio, social media, music among others are powerful tool of influence. Influence is paramount, essential and inevitable as long as we relate with people. We as human beings are influenced by our relationships, because influence rides on the wings of relationship. As such, we are being influenced daily, consciously or unconsciously. In whatever relationship you are in (marital, employment, business, etc) you are either influencing somebody or you are being influenced. Influence is simply the ability to affect someone’s belief or actions, however, influence has degree. If you observe life quite well, you will realize and discover that people with greater power, wealth and authority have a higher potential to influence more people. The question now is “WHAT INFLUENCE ARE YOU EXERTING ON PEOPLE ?” we must strive to consciously be a positive influence on people; we must endeavour to leave people better than we met them; our lives must make indelibly positive and great marks on everybody we meet. We cannot make a good influence if we don’t realize we have something to offer. We must know that we have worth, and coming in contact with us means something good must be transmitted to those we encounter. We must be on the look out and not just interact with people, no matter how brief our meeting may be, because it must be seen as an assignment to make them a better person. We should learn to encourage our fellow(s) and not discourage them. We must be people who are motivators rather than de-motivators. We must be builders and not destroyers; we must put on smile always and not frown. Smiling would not just make us looks younger but would also make us easily approachable by people. {We must live for peoples to live and not be their blockage}. If all of us try to be a positive influence on the people we meet, life will surely be a better place to live in. IT BEGINS WITH ME AND YOU. Let your mind be made up to always add value to whoever you meet or come across. Let us all learn to do this with all our heart and everything that we own, because we never can tell when we would desert this life and we would be asked by our creator that “WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO DO WITH THE OPPOURTUNITY GIVEN TO YOU ON EARTH ?” Holding on to material and intellectual possessions is not the best, because when you die, you die with them, and some would be left behind without value, because we came with nothing to this earth. Let us learn to exhibit and advocate the change we want in the world by being a great example of the change. As my mentor “Mr Oyebiyi, O.A. of the Department of Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, would always tell me that “BE GOOD AND FEAR GOD ALWAYS”. To my readers, let this ring bell in your ears always, and let it be your watchword in whatever you are doing.
