[Read report 3] 11th Internal Audit Students Conference Presentation – University of Pretoria, by Dr. Anthony Turton : 2009 (at the time, from the CSIR, but sacked by government authorities for making this info public) [Read posted article] The correlation of high uranium, arsenic and other chemicals in groundwater related to the occurrence of leukaemia – by Toens, Stadler and Wullschlegger for the Water Research Commission : 1996 [Read posted article] Our Groundwater, Rivers and Dams are contaminated with; Un-metabolized ARV’s (HIV/AIDS medication – cancer causing – also in drinking water) Un-metabolized Contraceptive medication in human sewage – endocrine disruptive properties – cause urogenital defects in babies and decrease fertility. Cancer causing Acid Mine Drainage and Uranium – SA’s standard for uranium deposits in tap water are 70 microgram per litre which is “BIZARRE HIGH AND IRRESPONSIBLE’ according to Professor Carl Albrecht, main researcher of the Cancer Association of SA. The World Health Organisation’s limit is 15 mcg/l and the cancer forming threshold is 40 mcg/l. This water is biologically dead, the sediment of which is radioactive and the pH is so low that it has dissolved metals like Uranium, Arsenic etc. Uranium has been linked to lung, bone and other types of cancers, including leukaemia, kidney failure, neurological effects including learning disabilities, immune suppression, birth defects, respiratory infections and skin and eye allergies, according to the World Health Organisation. Also recently found to disturb the natural activity of hormones, potentially affecting reproductive and immune functions. “We will see a dramatic rise in cancer due to long term exposure to uranium” – albeit Dr. Barnes, Epidemiologist University of Stellenbosch. The above can’t be removed by municipal purification and neither are they required to test for its presence. The impact will be catastrophic; SA’s own Chernobyl. NOTE: The AGUA e VIDA water filtration system is the only system (to our knowledge) that has filter to eliminate the uranium isotopes which is left in the water even after it has been through a reverse osmosis process, giving thus radio-active-free water. Untreated Sewage and other Chemicals - “The water in many of the country’s dams is becoming more enriched with sewage (containing the deadly e.coli bacteria), industrial waste, mining waste, agricultural return flows and seepage from garbage waste dumps, which is gradually building up over time – Dr. Peter Aston from the CSIR. SANS 241 is used as the quality standard for BLUE DROP certification of drinking water. Regrettably SANS 241 cannot be considered a suitable standard for drinking water quality. FILTRATION SYSTEMS AND MINERALS Reverse Osmosis Filters: While conventional filter systems do not sufficiently remove radio-active uranium isotopes or un-metabolized HIV/AIDS medication and contraceptive medication or toxins (in the case of insufficient chlorination dosage), the reverse osmosis process do remove these unwanted substances, but also remove all the essential minerals (excluding the uranium isotopes), leaving us with ‘dead’ or ‘hungry’ water, which is harmful to our bodies. Dangers related to Ozone (O3) method of disinfection of water: Filtering ozone gas through water may create a chemical compound called ‘bromate’ which can cause; • Abdominal pains • Hearing impairment • Kidney failure In 2004 Coco-Cola had to withdraw it’s bottled water called Dasani from the UK Market. Others use reverse osmosis filter systems (producing ‘dead’ or ‘hungry’ water) and then add chemical minerals, which do not diffuse into the molecule structure of the water, necessary for proper absorption by the body. It is important that bottled water be kept in inert bottles/containers, like HDPE material. i.e Not the traditional blue plastic bottles which give-off toxins, when subjected to sunlight and heat.
