WHAT’S ON MY MIND? 11/26/14 “BRUISED PEOPLE” I was getting ready to eat an apple today and accidentally dropped it on the floor! Sure I know the 3-second rule and washed it off! I cut it up to eat about 5 minutes later and amazingly the place that it hit the floor had already bruised even though it was not evident on the outside. It made me think of how many walk around with bruised feelings!! They may look all right on the outside but they are bruised on the inside. Oftentimes what started out as a little offense began to grow in someone’s heart and they lacked the skill to deal with their hurt. Jesus had a lot to say about bruised people. In fact in Luke 4:18 (Ampl.) – He described Himself with an anointing that God had sent Him to release captives and set at liberty those who are bruised, crushed and broken! It’s interesting that He spoke of bruised people needing to be set free or released from captivity. When you think of the word captivity you think of being held as a prisoner. When bruised people don’t deal with their hurt eventually this will progress to an unforgiving heart. This is where the captivity occurs. (A spiritual prison described in Mt. 18) When Jesus spoke of Himself in (Luke 4:18) He first said that He had been sent to heal the broken-hearted! I want you to know that Jesus is touched with how you feel and is every ready to pour in His healing power when you come to Him. In fact He encourages you in Hebrews 4:16 to come Boldly before Him to RECEIVE MERCY and FIND GRACE (well-timed help, ability) in time of your need. He will give you the MERCY you need to practice toward that one who hurt you and give you GRACE an ability to forgive! How beautiful Healing and release from captivity!! What a GREAT GOD!!
