WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY – His Favorite Cult Leader A fellow racquetball player claims he is an atheist. Every time he sees me he says, “How’s my favorite cult leader?” I respond, “I’m doing well, and the cult of Jesus Christ is doing even better. And how are you, my favorite pretend-atheist?” He laughs and says he’s fine. I tell him he’s a pretend atheist because in our conversations I’ve detected some tendencies toward belief in God. In addition, he was baptized as a child and worshiped regularly until he left home. I tell him, “God claimed you as one of his holy children in baptism. So let me warn you: God keeps after his children until he gets them back. He never gives up.” That’s when my ‘atheist’ friend looks at me with a little smile and says, “See you next week, pastor.” – Pastor Lon
