WHEN GOD BEGINS TO MOVE SUPERNATURALLY THROUGH PEOPLE OUTSIDE A RELIGIOUS SYSTEM, THE “LORDS OF THE SYSTEM” ALWAYS STAND IN OPPOSITION AGAINST THE SERVANTS OF GOD MISTAKING THEM FOR MERE DISSIDENTS. The Pharisees and Teachers of the Law did not doubt that the miracles performed by Jesus and the apostles were real. They were unhappy that the new move of God was not compliant with the legalistic tendencies of Judaism of which they were experts. Devoid of a desire to please the Lord, their hypocritical advocacy for the Law and policing of these unconventional miraculous works of God was a camouflage for their pride and preservation of legalism and religious territory. For instance, they challenged Jesus for healing someone on the Sabbath. When Jesus healed a man who was blind from birth, instead of praising the Lord the religious folks launched a “commission of inquiry” into the healing of this man to determine its compliance with the Law. When He cast out demons, they alleged that He was doing so by the power of Beelzebub, the chief of demons. The Pharisees and Teachers of the Law were quite unhappy that they had not sanctioned the miracles. Consequently, they opposed Jesus till He was crucified and after His death they fought the apostles even to the point of death. Yet, a move of God cannot be successfully opposed because it is God Himself driving it and fighting off the “systems” invented by man that block the flow of the Holy Spirit towards the accomplishment of God’s purpose. Always bear this in mind: God is a person, not a system.
