WHEN IS TODAY? I have a hope of living today when I see a revived nation, a revived county, a revived city, a revived town, a revived village, and yes! A revived Kenya. I have been existing in this country for the last twenty plus years, with a hope of living having been buried long long ago with the injustices that fill the air of this mother country Kenya. Back in 1963, victory was celebrated up on the mountains in the name of independence, but 50 years later defeat is being experienced down deep in the valleys in form poverty, corruption, diseases, post election violence, and more notably many Kenyans, who are seared in the flames of withering injustice by the few individuals, so called who is who in the society. If in this country we have a bank of equality, then it is high time we believe that the bank is bankrupt! if in this country we have a bank of women and youth empowerment, then it is high time we believe that the bank is bankrupt! If in this country we have a bank of justice, my fellow Kenyans, it is high time to wake up from a long night sleep and realize that the bank is bankrupt! Today is the day of revival, revival of equality, of women and youth empowerment, of justice, revival of our faith, of love towards one another, yes! Today is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Why don’t we be like safaricom, the better option? Why don’t we be like the then celtel, making life better? Why don’t we be like orange, to be positive everywhere we go? And why don’t we connect to each other like the way YU connects people? With this faith my dear brothers and sisters, we will be able to climb back up the mountains of not only the real independence, but from the deep valley of injustices, poverty, diseases, post election violence, unnecessary rivalry and together we will sing from the bottom of our hearts; Ee Mungu nguvu yetu Ilete baraka kwetu Haki iwe ngao na mlinzi Natukae na Undugu Amani na uhuru Raha tupate na ustawi. Amkeni ndugu zetu Tufanye sote bidii Nasi tujitoe kwa nguvu Nchi yetu ya Kenya Tunayoipenda Tuwe tayari kuilinda Natujenge taifa letu Ee, ndio wajibu wetu Kenya istahili heshima Tuungane mikono Pamoja kazini Kila siku tuwe na shukrani I have a hope of living today and not existing anymore, because there will be no low class people, middle class people nor high class people, but wealth will be equally distributed. I have a hope of living today and not existing anymore, because I will walk along the streets of all towns in Kenya and find no beggars’ strategically located but instead find givers strategically located. I have a hope of living today and not existing anymore, because there will be no more tyranny of numbers in our politics mainly tribal centered but instead, tyranny of someone’s credentials to lead the people. I have a hope of living today and not existing anymore, because there will be no more of kikuyus, luos, kales, kambas, luhyas, e.t.c no more of central, western, rift valley, nyanza e.t.c but instead one people, one nation. I have a hope of living today and not existing anymore, because a politician will no longer be a mheshimiwa and the voters ordinary Kenyans, but the voters will be waheshimiwa. I have a hope of living today, yes! Living today because the old has gone and the new has come, Kenya has gone, new Kenya is here! And when today comes, when justice, equality and empowerment prevails, when we let it reign from every village to village, from every city to city, we will be able to live together as kenyans, no poverty, no tribalism, no injustices, no nepotism, no corruption, no tyranny of numbers, no looking down upon others and all of us will allow this words to forever be in our lips; You are fearfully and wonderful made.by (@)kim.B
