WHEN WE BEGAN TO TALK ABOUT THE LOVE OF GOD THE MOST COMMONLY QUOTED SCRIPTURE IN JOHN 3:1616 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.....BUT do we really understand GODS love ...most refuse to believe that they will go to HELL , because they say oh how he loves me .. and YES GOD LOVES US ALL ... Question : do you love your children so much that you do not chastise them or tell the right from wrong ? WELL YOU THOUGHTS ARE NOT HIS ( GOD) THOUGHTS NEITHER ARE YOUR WAYS HIS WAYS .... 1) The love of God is widely accepted, but wrongly understood. As indicated, many people believe in a “God of love,” who operates according to their definition of love. Those people will be shocked to find themselves spending eternity in hell if they believe “a loving God would not condemn anyone to hell .” But the error is not just among unbelievers, for many Christians also have a very distorted concept of God’s love . (2) The love of God is the basis for God’s great acts in history. In Psalm 136, we find the love (“lovingkindness ) of God repeated after each new line of the Psalm. The Psalm praises God for His lovingkindness for two major acts in history , the creation of the world and the deliverance of Israel from their Egyptian slavery. The prophets of the Old Testament emphasized the love of God during the dark days of Israel’s captivity (Isaiah 49:8-16; 63:7; Jeremiah 31:3; Hosea 11:1), and the New Testament speaks of the love of God in the person and work of Jesus Christ (1 John 4:9)..... GODS LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL : Agape First on the list of the types of love is agape. Agape is actually what contemporary Greek refers to as unconditional love, or a love that IS love, like in the phrase sagapo, meaning, I love you. During the ancient Greek, the word actually referred to true loves deepest sense, instead of the simple attraction. This is even used for describing the contented feeling or putting someone in a very high regard. Agape is used for expressing the unconditional love given by God to all His creations.... GODS ELECT
