WHERE ARE THE GREAT INVENTIONS? Perhaps we have entered the post last days! The last great invention was the computer and the Internet, which has truly transformed the world but these inventions have now been around for 60 years. I ordered the new I-Phone 6 and it has some amazing features. It is dramatically thinner, and I especially like the new Retina HD display. However, these new features are a development of an existing invention. I repeat for emphases, “these new features are a development of an existing invention.” The telephone was invented in 1833. I recently bought the most powerful handgun in the world. The barrel allows for the exiting of excess gas, which reduces the recoil. However, the gun was invented in 1260. My son has help make Nick Woodman a billionaire by buying the GoPro Camera. However, it is simply a camera stuck to my son’s forehead making him look like a Cyclops. However, Nicéphore Niépce invented the camera in 1816; and William Lincoln invented video in 1867. So, where are the great inventions? Drones are remarkable especially weaponized for military application. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are amazing. However, the successful airplane was invented on December 17, 1903. The fastest ground transportation for Abraham was the horse, and the fastest ground transportation for Abraham Lincoln was the horse. Now, look at the speed of trains and cars. Japan has a train, which travels 361 mph; and the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport car was certified for the average top speed 268 mph. However, Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot invented the first steam-powered automobile capable of human transportation in 1769. The radio was invented around 1820; the successful television was invented in 1926. Etc., etc., Organ transplants? The first transplant in the modern sense – the implantation of organ tissue was a thyroid transplant in 1883. So, where are the great inventions? The Bible: Daniel 12:4 says, “in the last days knowledge will increase.” Perhaps we have entered the post last days. Experts tell us that knowledge has increased exponentially. So, Einstein, where are the great inventions?
